Happy Fall!
With the leaves falling, you may be wondering what to do with them. There are a few options, including the City of Raleigh seasonal leaf collection which starts annually in November.
Crosswinds is in Zone 3 – place your leaf piles at the curb between November 23 – November 29*
*Leaves will be collected the following week
We ask that you follow city guidelines to wait for the appropriate week and do not pile leaves on the street! Leaf piles on the pavement are a hazard for pedestrians and vehicles by partially blocking the roadway.
The City of Raleigh offers several disposal options to its residents, and would like to make people aware there are also some environmentally-friendly alternatives: Optional Methods for Leaf Disposal
One of the optional methods for leaf disposal is Curbside Yard Waste Service: This service is provided by the Solid Waste Services Department and occurs on the same day your recycling is collected. Either of the following can be used: containers with lifting handles, such as a plastic or metal garbage can, no larger than 35 gallons, and weighing no more than 75 pounds when full; biodegradable paper bags; or clear plastic bags. Please limit the number of bags that will be placed out for collection to 15. Visit Solid Waste Services for more information.
Please remember in the City of Raleigh, yard waste may not be burned.
Due to COVID-19 protocols and staffing restrictions, it is anticipated that the time it takes to collect leaves will be longer than normal. Residents are encouraged to use other available options for leaf disposal.
