Dear Raleigh Resident:
To help residents deal with the aftermath of Monday’s storm, the City of Raleigh will begin a multi-departmental effort to pick up major storm debris across the city. This collection of large piles of limbs and branches will start on Thursday, April 16.
To mitigate safety concerns and adhere to social distancing guidelines, we will use trucks that can be operated by a single employee. Normal yard waste collection requires multiple employees in close quarters; that service remains suspended.
Only large piles of tree limbs and branches will be collected. The equipment we will use is not capable of picking up containers, grass clippings, or loose (or bags) of leaves. Those items will not be collected. This process may take several weeks to complete, and we appreciate your patience.
Also starting Thursday, April 16, the City’s Yard Waste Center (located at 900 N. New Hope Rd., Raleigh), will begin accepting yard waste from residents only. The City will not charge tipping fees, which will allow “contactless” drop-offs, minimizing risk to the public and employees.
